ITC Mughal, Agra: For that perfect view of the Taj

The Taj Mahal, Agra, inspires millions to pay homage to the eternal love nest and is arguably the most visited tourist destination in India. It is only natural that accommodation options near the Taj are plentiful and suitable for all budgets. Options for luxury stays in Agra are limited but sufficient. There are 3 main luxury hotels that tourists can choose from. Of the three, the ITC Mughal is the hotel of choice among visiting guests. This article highlights the various accommodation options for visitors looking to stay at the ITC Mughal, Agra.

Like the parent chain itself, the ITC Mughal, Agra is a true epitome of luxury and comfort. The hotel is 10 kilometers or a 15-minute drive from the airport. Recipient of several awards such as the Aga Khan Award (architecture) and Conde Nast’s Best City Spa, the ITC Mughal is a new benchmark for luxury among Agra hotels. 233 rooms, classified at different levels and named after some well-known names from the Mughal era, are spread across 35 acres of prime real estate.

1- Presidential Spa and Family Suites at Khwab Mahal

The Khwab Mahal is quite an innovative ‘hotel within a hotel’ and is located next to the lavish Mughal gardens. This is a newly added wing to the hotel premises and has 5 suites each named after Mumtaz, Zeenat, Nur Jahan, Farzana and Nusrat Begum who were all queens during the Mughal regime. Each suite spans 2,050 square feet, bathed in grandeur and luxury. Its facilities include a personal plunge pool and a massage room equipped with a Jacuzzi and steam room.

2- Tansen Suite

Named after legendary musician Tansen, this is a 1,340 square foot 2-bedroom suite and has previously been occupied by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, former South African President Nelson Mandela and internationally renowned musician, Yanni. A complimentary bottle of champagne is offered to guests as a welcome drink.

3- Raja Mansingh Suite

Mughal army commander Raja Mansingh is the inspiration behind these suites. The living room gets dramatic flair with a full-length Jhoola, the Indian swing, thrown smack dab in the middle. Standard services include a private concierge and butler, and access to Kaya Kalp, a spa and wellness center.

4- Royal Mughal Suite

This is a part of the Khwab Mahal wing and has an area of 720 square feet. The Royal Mughal Suite comes with its own set of bells and whistles including free use of the business centre, laundry and in-house gym. The hotel also arranges round-trip airport transfers and in-room check-in and check-out services.

5- Mughal Chambers

The Mughal Chambers are an ideal accommodation for business travelers looking for that elusive combination of business and pleasure. Remember, these are NOT suites, but they are spacious enough (363 square feet to be precise) to afford a premium stay. Both king and twin beds are available and wake up calls can be arranged by contacting the front desk.

6- Chamber of Emperors

Similar in size and style to the Mughal Chambers, the Emperors Chamber is the perfect love nest for honeymooning couples who place great emphasis on their privacy. Room guests have complimentary access to the gym and Firdaus, the pool.

It should be noted that smoking is prohibited in all rooms and suites at ITC Mughal, Agra. There are plenty of designated smoking areas for guest comfort. The hotel concierge is dedicated and courteous staff.
