Xbox Live Hard Drive – 3 Things You MUST Know Before You Buy The 250GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive!

The Xbox 360 Hard Drive is an almost vital accessory to help you get the most out of your console. From saving movies to playing online games, the Xbox 360 250GB Hard Drive really expands the experience and pleasure of gamers. In fact, I keep a lot of action games like Modern Warfare 2 on my hard drive because it makes the console run cooler, giving the system a longer lifespan. But as wonderful as this 250GB thumb drive is, there are 3 VERY IMPORTANT things to consider before you buy it. This can save you money and time, and most importantly protect your important games and game profiles.

  1. transfer cable – The data transfer cable that comes with larger hard drives should always be used! Do not simply “recover” the account through Xbox Live unless absolutely necessary! It may take longer initially, but your chances of losing your valuable game saves and more are greatly reduced. Trust me on this… don’t lose valuable save points when you’re playing veteran/hardcore; It won’t be worth the crying. Also note: You CANNOT use this cable to transfer your data to a smaller hard drive. Just from a smaller hard drive to a larger one.
  2. Price – At approximately $130. (at the moment), it’s certainly not the cheapest offering on hard drives. But sadly, I paid almost the same price for my old 60GB drive almost 2 years ago. This is BY FAR the most “cheap” Xbox 360 memory unit released to date.
  3. Buying Used Memory Units: Don’t Do It! – This author strongly recommends NOT to buy used memory sticks for game consoles; it is too easy to get scammed for various reasons. People often sell their Xbox 360 memory stick or hard drive because they have been banned from signing in to Xbox Live for cheating, modding, or just plain abusing other players. Regardless of the reason, if you end up with this “forbidden” memory unit; you can forget about using it to play online, PERIOD! Microsoft policy prohibits them from allowing a banned memory drive to access their servers forever. Also, if you buy a unit online that is defective, you will probably have trouble getting your money back. In fact, Paypal refused to refund my money from a seller because even though the item was stolen, I still received it! Don’t take chances with your money.
