1. Focus on nutrient-dense foods.

Select nutrient-dense foods to promote your overall health and weight loss. The nutrient density of a food is measured by the amount of nutrients a food contains compared to the number of calories. For example, fruit is very nutrient dense, while potato chips would be considered low in nutrient density.

2. Lose the diet mindset.

Diets are often counterproductive. If you lose weight by following a diet, there is a good chance that you will gain it back. Studies even show that you will regain more weight than you lost. Going on a diet can cause you to become obsessed with food and possible binge patterns. Instead of “going on a diet,” focus on new healthy eating habits.
