History of the Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra first hit the market in 1979, but the company discontinued production in 2002. The Supra falls into the grand tourer or sports car class. The vehicle was released as a predecessor to the Toyota Celica model. The Supra’s design style was derived from the Toyota Celica vehicle model, but the vehicle was wider and longer. In mid-1986, the Supra became a unique vehicle and was not based on the Toyota Celica.

The Toyota group included its own logo for the Toyota Supra, similar to that of Celica except for the color. Toyota stopped sales of the Supra in the United States in 1999 and in 2002 the company officially stopped production of the Supra in the country of Japan.

The iconic Toyota Supra sports car was featured in various movies, TV shows, video games, and movies. Some of his notable appearances include the 2001 film The East and the Furious, the video game series Midnight Club, and primarily the Gran Tourismo in the film Need for Speed.

The Toyota Supra launched in the year 1979 was also called Toyota Celica Supra Mk1 and Celica XX. This model was produced until 1981 without further design modifications and used the MA4x platform in its production. The vehicle offered three types of engines. Vehicle features include 4-wheel disc brakes, coil springs, four-link rear suspension, anti-roll bar and track bar.
