What to do in Tel Aviv
Sea sand
Probably the main attractions for many tourists in Tel Aviv are the wonderful beaches and the sea. The beaches and shoreline stretch from the harbor to Old Jaffa (over 5km) and are right outside the hotel for many guests.
Watersports
Why limit yourself to the beach and swim? There are many excellent facilities here for windsurfing and sailing etc.
The Tayelet
The Tayelet is a promenade that borders the beach and the coast, a place to walk, relax, jog and ride at any time of the day and night.
Old Jaffa
Jaffa is an ancient city several thousand years old, and it appears in the story of Jonah and the whale. Now restored, part of the Tel Aviv metropolis, it’s a great place to stroll, enjoy history, and explore the galleries of the artists’ colony.
Port
The recently restored harbor is now a great place to relax, eat and shop by the sea.
Yarkon Park
Tel Aviv’s green lung, Yarkon, is a large park on both banks of the Yarkon River that ends by the sea. Look at the boats or rent one yourself, walk, bike, have a picnic, relax, and visit the petting zoo.
Purchases
Tel Aviv has many different types of shopping, several large shopping centers, but also HaTachana, a restored train station near Jaffa and the Tel Aviv port. There are also more special places like the Carmel Market and Nahalat Binyamin.
Museums and galeries
There are some notable museums, such as the Diaspora Museum, the Rabin Center, and the Haaretz Museum. There are also many excellent galleries, including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
Architecture
Tel Aviv is famous for the number and quality of its Bauhaus-style buildings.
Cycling
There are many well-developed cycle tracks through Yarkon Park and of course along the coast. You can also travel north from the port to Tel Baruch beach (and even further to Herzliya).
Neve tzedek
One of the oldest neighborhoods, now extensively restored and a popular tourist promenade.
Look for
Visit the observation deck at the Azrieli Towers – great views of the city, the sea and to the east, towards the mountains and Jerusalem.
Party time
Tel Aviv prides itself on being the city of Israel that never sleeps, there is a wide variety of places to eat and have fun.
Near
Israel is a small country and Tel Aviv is a great base for touring Israel. For day trips, try Ashkelon, an ancient city with an amazing beach and just north of Herzliya Beach. Places beyond a field would include Haifa and perhaps the Galilee and Golan south of some of the Negev desert highlights and if you are not staying in Jerusalem you should spend a day or more capturing the highlights.
