How does writing improve your mental health?

Have you ever thought about writing? Or did you try to write?

If you’ve tried writing, we’re sure you must have felt some sort of change.

Those who have not tried it before should give it a try as it is really beneficial for the health of your mind.

When you write down your thoughts, you feel invigorated; you feel so relaxed. People who always feel lonely or isolate themselves from the rest of the world find comfort when they write about their feelings and emotions.

You have no idea how writing positively impacts your brain. Many of you are not aware of its benefits. We have some pretty compelling reasons, and I’m sure after reading those reasons, you’ll see the broader perspective of writing. You will get a transparent picture of how amazingly it influences your brain.

1. Your memory improves

Have you ever made a to-do list?

Or do you know someone who has made a to-do list before?

If so, ask that person about their benefits. Even though they prepare a to-do list, they don’t have to look at it over and over again. Because when they write down all the homework, it registers in their brains. Even when they forget something, to remember it they just have to look at the to-do list they have prepared.

There are multiple benefits to having a to-do list. There is a temporal lobe in your brain, as soon as you type something, it activates. Cells in that temporal lobe light up and allow you to remember what you’re writing.

Your brain focuses more on what you write instead of what you write down in your memory book.

Your to-do list helps you get better at organizing different tasks. You feel like you are in more control and all of your task-related worries will fly away.

2. Your visualization improves

It is common for a human brain to associate everything with an image. Even the letters we write, our brain associates with different shapes. Improving your visualization helps you a lot in the long run.

When you write something, you strengthen your visual register. Your brain processes information faster when your brain’s visual register is activated. Your act of reading and writing helps you create a good visual record for your brain.

3. Keeping a journal improves your overall health

Many times we think about things, we are faced with the rush of adrenaline, but we cannot describe it. Angry emotions disturb us like anything else. We don’t understand how to let go of all the toxic thoughts that make room in our brain.

The best way to let go of all toxicity is to start journaling. This habit will give you a lot of relief. Your emotions will be under your control. Soon, you will experience that you are becoming emotionally stable.

Journaling is a way to heal yourself; light your way at every stage of life. You are faced with certain events in life and the toxicity associated with that event is absorbed into your mind. Journaling helps you process stressful and traumatic thoughts faster. You can get more benefits from journaling. One of the most amazing benefits is that your immune system is strengthened.

A study was conducted at the University of Texas and the results turned out to be that writing down your thoughts in a journal strengthens your T-lymphocytes.

T lymphocytes is the biological term for those cells that help you fight different infections.

Writing a journal activates the left side of the human brain that is related to memory. Now some of you must be thinking what about the right side of the brain that is associated with fantasy and creativity. Do you neglect it?

No, the right side of the brain is not neglected here. It must come as a surprise to you, but it is true that when your left brain is working, your right brain automatically wakes up from sleep and helps you fantasize and gives your creativity a boost.

4. Writing makes you smarter

We know you’re already smart, but the plugin isn’t bad at all. You do not agree?

Writing transforms you from smart to smarter. Writing gives clarity in everything. Verbal communication is good, but it doesn’t give you that clarity on any subject that writing does.

Before you start writing on a specific topic, you need to master that topic. Your knowledge of that topic comes first when you decide to write about a particular topic. Before writing on a particular topic, you should first organize all the thoughts related to that topic and then you should do your research on that topic. There are two things going on here, you are getting more information related to that topic and also including your thoughts on the process.

Writing improves your vocabulary range, which also becomes part of your verbal communication. When we read a particular thing or when we write about a particular thing, we think of phrases and words to mention a thing in fewer words. To do this, we turn to “Mr. Google” and look for the phrases and words that can describe the long paragraph in a few lines.

As a person, it feels good when you add so many new words and phrases to your vocabulary log.

When we start using new words and phrases in our vocabulary log, we are motivated to find more.

5. Go back to the Stone Age

Oh please! Don’t take it too literally. Going back to the Stone Age is not taking a nail and starting to carve words into stone. You have to go back to the time when there was no pen tablet, there were no gadgets and you only depended on pen and paper.

Say goodbye to your electronics, grab a pen and paper, and start jotting down your thoughts. Before that we want to ask you something, how many sketchbooks and pens do you have? If your answer is “Lots” then we can say that you are addicted to stationery (which is apparently a good thing), but if you say you don’t own any stationery then we can say that you have imprisoned your entire being in the desert of gadgets .

When you pick up a pen and start writing, your brain gets involved in this activity. Your brain starts working in 3 ways here. First of all, you hold a pen (here you are using your motor skills), then you try to remember the lines you want to write (it makes your memory stronger), and then you start to associate the word with different images that are formed in the core. of your mind (strengthen your visual log).

6. Writing helps you to be better at writing

We all know that when we read, our brain works better and helps us in the writing process. Little are we aware of the fact that writing down your thoughts and feelings helps you a lot in strengthening your writing ability.

Can you think of the ideas that came to your mind when you were working on certain things? You forgot to write down those ideas and now it’s too hard to remember them again. The best thing you can do in this case is to write down the bullet points as soon as the idea comes to mind. Let the creativity flow, but don’t forget to write down all the amazing things because they are hard to come by.

7. Helps you find solutions

You feel agitated when you cannot find a solution to a specific problem. This thing develops its roots and you feel angry at almost everything. It may sound a bit weird because you haven’t tried it before, but it’s true that typing can solve many problems.

When there is a problem, you look for the details and then try to think of a possible solution. Nothing can help you more than writing. Just write down all your problems related to that topic and then try to look up the details. Take note of the possible things that occur to you. When you have good data, solving that problem will not be a big task for you.

In this way, your problem-solving skills will improve and restlessness will fly away.
