Pokémon cards: the correct way to trade them
There is a wrong way and a right way to trade Pokemon cards. Many people trade cards incorrectly and frustrate the person they just traded with, or end up distraught. This happens all too often, but most people don’t realize exactly why or how a misoperation occurs.
Whether the wronged party realizes they were cheated then or even 10 minutes later, they most likely won’t be able to make a trade, as most Pokemon card players won’t agree to that. . That is why it is so important to know how to trade Pokémon cards correctly.
If you abide by the following five rules of trading Pokémon cards, you’ll never be caught on the wrong end of a deal again.
1. Do not create elaborate agreements
By this I mean don’t trade 20 cards for 1 or 2 cards. Try to keep your trades at 1:1 ratios. Some of the worst trades arise when one person has an extraordinarily rare card and the other party offers several dozen not-so-rare cards for it. A person in this deal is bound to get ripped off.
Now, obviously, there are some cards that are worth more than others of the same rarity, but the closer you can keep trading a card for a card, the better your chances of getting a fair deal.

Don’t feel obligated to complete a trade; if you don’t feel comfortable about it, just take your cards and walk away. No one is forcing you to change your pokemon cards. Only do it if you feel good about the craft.

4. Trade with people your own age
Some of the most unbalanced trades I have seen occur when an older person trades with a younger person. The younger player often doesn’t realize the value of his cards, and the older player tries to capitalize on that.
If you trade with people your own age, you are much less likely to get scammed.
5. Be happy with the trade
Even if you have established a fair trade, if you are not satisfied with it, then don’t do it! Just because you each get the same value doesn’t mean the trade has to be completed. There may be sentimental value in your cards that cannot be repaid.
Only complete the trade if you are completely satisfied with the proposed deal.
