Preview of Tuesday’s second leg of the Champions League

AC Milan-Arsenal

If we were to follow the current league form of these 2 teams, it would be very difficult to find a clear favourite, as both have had inconsistent performances recently.

But this is the champions league and it is a competition that AC Milan covet the most and it is hard to see past them winning this game.

They just need to win the game and they are quite capable of that as players like Kaká, Pato, Andrea Pirlo and Filipo Inzaghi are past masters of this competition.

Arsenal on the other hand cannot be ruled out as they only need a draw to qualify and that is not beyond their capabilities.

Drawbacks for them include the fact that the pitch at the San Siro isn’t the smoothest of surfaces and their brand of football could be hampered. They don’t defend properly during the 90 minutes as they are prone to making some mistake at the back due to individual errors.

They also lack experience in this competition compared to their old opponents. They have also faced lesser opponents in the past at this stage of the competition and many of their players are not in good shape, but not for lack of motivation as the AC Milan players can tell.

Milan’s players seem to need motivation to perform at their best and Arsenal are the kind of team that should bring out the best in them.

It wouldn’t be the end of the world for Arsenal to leave, as they still have the premiership to look forward to and it may even be a blessing in disguise, but for Milan it would be a disaster to leave at this stage, with them. being so far behind Serie A
leaders

Manchester United-Lyon

The late goal conceded by Lyon in the first leg could be the turning point in this tie.

Manchester United know they don’t have to go all out to win and it’s in their best interest to play on the counterattack.

Lyon would be hoping that Karim Benzema, Hatem Ben Arfa and Juninho are in top form and play as well as they did when they faced Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox Stadium.

It just seems like a tall order for them as United are so good at home and they know that any kind of win or a 0-0 scoreline would see them through.

Barcelona vs Celta

Barcelona is great at home and Celta is miserable away. It would be a miracle if Celtic qualified from their current situation.

I don’t see him winning by 2 clear goals at the Camp Nou or scoring 4 goals to 3 for Barcelona.

It has been a fascinating cup for them and their fans, but it will certainly end tonight.

Seville vs. Fenerbahce

This is not an easy game to call as Fenerbahce are the most experienced team in terms of Champions League matches, but Sevilla are dynamite at home.

If they play to their full potential, I would ask Sevilla to come out on top, but Fenerbache are a good team with a lot of very good players.
